A good batch of sweet potato fries can really switch up your typical pairing for burgers, wraps, or sandwiches. These Air Fried Sweet Potato Fries are delicious and straight to the point - just cut, season, and cook!

If you have never had sweet potato fries in the air fryer, I'm really giving you the side-eye...because they are delicious! They are a great switch up from the normal french fries that we are used to. Plus, the sweet and salty flavor is so addicting! Serve with your favorite chicken wing recipe like these Crispy Oven Baked Wings.

    Ingredients

An ingredient shot for air fried sweet potato fries with three sweet potatoes, avocado oil, salt, and black pepper.
    • Sweet Potatoes - You can use the regular orange ones, or the purple variety. Grab a firm sweet potato that hasn't sprouted for the best results.
    • Avocado Oil - A bit of veggie oil - I use avocado because of the high smoke point - is essential to a good air fried sweet potato fry.
    • Seasonings - This recipe uses the classic salt and pepper combo, but below I list some other seasoning ideas that are crave-worthy.

    Variations and Substitutions

Sweet Instead of Savory Sweet Potato Fries: Try these with a mix of cinnamon and sugar for a real treat!

Garlic-Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries: Grated parmesan, freshly chopped parsley, and garlic powder make these sweet potato fries restaurant-quality.

Dipping Sauce Ideas: Ketchup is an obvious classic, but try garlic aioli for a savory sweet potato fry, or a vanilla bean icing for the sweeter variations.

How to Make Air Fried Sweet Potato Fries

A chunk of sweet potato cut into a fry shape.

Step 1: Start out by cleaning the skin of your sweet potatoes with a bristle vegetable brush. If you prefer, peel the skin off. I leave it on for extra nutrients.

Chop the sweet potatoes into fry-shaped sticks and add them to a large bowl.

Step 2: Pour the avocado oil into the bowl, and toss until the sweet potatoes are evenly covered.

An air fryer basket lined with parchment paper, filled with a layer of uncooked sweet potato fries.

Step 3: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F.

Cook the fries for 15-18 minutes, flipping occasionally to avoid burning.

Step 4: When the sweet potato fries are done, toss with sea salt and black pepper. That's it!

    Recipe Pro Tip

    1. Don't overcrowd. Add your fries to the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may have to do multiple batches!
