Blackberry Midnight Mojitos are the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and refreshing. Serve over club soda for a tasty mocktail, or add a couple ounces of white rum to stay the classic route!

Mojitos themselves are a staple drink at bars and restaurants for a reason... They are absolutely delicious and the fresh mint makes them extra refreshing. Today, we take this vintage cocktail and take it up a notch with the addition of juicy, muddled blackberries. And don't worry - you can easily leave out the rum for a sip that's just as great.

The Coined Breakdown
- Total Cost per serving: $1.36
- Total Cost (2 glasses): $2.72
- Those Other Guys: $9.99 per glass
Ingredients

- Blackberries - One of the stars of the show. The color of these berries is how we get the "midnight" part of the name.
- Mint Leaves - The crucial herb that makes a mojito! When we muddle (or crush) the mint leaves, they release their flavor and aroma.
- Limes - Juice one, and slice the others for garnish.
- Simple Syrup - To sweeten the drink. I have a blog post on how to make simple syrup for more tips & tricks, but overall you just dissolve sugar in boiling water until combined.
- Club Soda - To add a hint of fizz and lighten up the drink.
Variations and Substitutions
Fruit: This recipe will work well with all types of fruit! Try strawberries, mango, or keep it classic with just lime juice.
Cocktail Ideas: If you want a nice alcoholic beverage, make this drink extra tropical by adding white rum.
How to Make a Blackberry Midnight Mojito

Step 1: To begin, muddle your berries, simple syrup, lime juice, and mint leaves.
Add the (optional) rum to this glass as well and stir everything together.
If you don't have a muddler, you can use a mortar and pestle or even the back of a wooden spoon!

Step 2: Prep your serving glasses with ice, club soda, and any other garnishes.
Strain the blackberry and mint juice over each glass. Top with extra mint leaves or berries, and enjoy.
Recipe Pro Tip
- Don't forget your sieve. Straining the muddled berries and mint keeps all of the flavors but leaves behind those pesky blackberry seeds - you don't want any to clog up your straw!
