One of the easiest grab-and-go breakfasts you can make - these Freezable Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Sandwiches are protein-packed and sure to start your day off right! You can customize the meat, cheese, and veggies anyway you want!

Two breakfast English muffin sandwiches stacked on top of each other.

Okay, does anyone not like sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches?? They are delicious, easy to eat on the go, they cover multiple food groups, and you can customize them any way you like! I don't even discriminate; they can be on a bagel, a biscuit, whatever.

    Ingredients

    • English Muffin - You can use whole-wheat, white, sourdough, etc... I've also found that store brands seem to do better in this recipe than brand-names!
    • Chicken Sausage Patty - I love using Delia's chicken sausage patties because they are large, thick, and really tasty! If you don't have them in your local store, I recommend your favorite brand of pork, turkey, or chicken sausage.
    • Sliced Cheese - Use your favorite type of cheese as well. I like thinly sliced, so it melts a little better. Try this recipe with provolone, American, pepper jack, or Colby jack cheese!
    • Eggs - It can't be a breakfast sandwich without a fluffy egg! Season with a pinch of salt + pepper. If you want extra protein, I usually blend my eggs with some cottage cheese/greek yogurt. You can't tell the difference after cooking!

How to Make a Copycat Sausage, Egg, & Cheese McMuffin

My favorite combo is chicken sausage patties, an over-medium fried egg, and pepper jack cheese for a bit of a kick! Assemble this on a whole-grain English muffin, and you'll be sure to feel good about what you're eating. I've also included freezing and reheating instructions in the recipe card. Make some extras and store them in the freezer until you're ready to eat!

    1. Start out by toasting the halved English muffins in the oven/toaster until golden brown.
    2. Brown the sausage patties to your liking; then assemble on the bottom half of the muffins.
    3. Fry your eggs, then divide into 6 even portions and add to the top of the patties. You can either cook the eggs in a circular mold to keep their shape, or just soft scramble and fold them over.
    4. Top with your favorite type of cheese slice, then the top of the muffins. That's it!

To freeze - let the assembled sandwiches cool completely. Then, wrap in parchment paper or aluminum foil. I usually store the wrapped sandwiches in a large freezer-safe storage bag.

When you're ready to reheat; wrap the sandwich in a damp paper towel & microwave for about 1 minute. There you have it - a super easy, healthy, and quick savory breakfast option for busy mornings!

    Ingredients

    • 6 count english muffins
    • 6 count breakfast sausage patties
    • 6 count eggs large
    • ¼ cup milk or water
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • 6 count sliced cheese

    Instructions

    • Set oven to "broil" or 450°F.
    • Cut English muffins in half. Line face up on baking sheet & slather with butter (optional: this gives a great depth to the flavor profile!) Toast until golden brown and then remove from oven.
    • In a skillet on medium heat, brown sausage to your liking. Remove and set on one-half of English muffins.
    • Add cooking spray to skillet. Fry eggs, keeping them in a size/shape similar to the English muffins. While frying, season with salt & pepper to your liking. [Pro tip: To save time, crack your eggs into muffin tins and bake at 300°F until set!]
    • Assemble sandwiches, including cheese slices. Let cool completely, then wrap in aluminum foil or parchment paper. I store them in a large freezer bag.
    • When ready to eat, remove freezer storage packaging. Wrap sandwich in a damp paper towel and microwave for 45 seconds - 1 minute. Top with your favorite toppings (jelly, honey, etc.) Enjoy!
