When you don't feel like deep frying anything... this recipe for Grilled Bang Bang Shrimp will absolutely hit the spot! Juicy Cajun-style shrimp, seared and served over cilantro-lime rice with tons of bang bang sauce drizzled on top!

A bowl of seared bang bang shrimp over cilantro-lime rice, with more shrimp and sauce on the side.

I came up with this recipe out of pure laziness - because I didn't feel like cleaning up frying oil! Thank goodness for that, because this dish is really light, healthy, and fulfilling. You can use whatever grain or green you want as a base, and top it with tons of bang bang sauce and sesame seeds for crunch.

    Ingredients

    • Large Raw Shrimp - Grab a pack of large shrimp and then peel + devein them before seasoning.
    • Seasonings - For this recipe, we're using a base of Old Bay seasoning plus a couple more spices and herbs to really round out our flavor.
    • Bang Bang Sauce - Check out the full recipe here, but our bang bang sauce is just 3 simple ingredients - mayo, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha. Easy peasy!

How to Pan Sear Juicy Shrimp

Shrimp is one of my favorite proteins because they take so little time to cook! And you want to be mindful of that to get the juiciest, restaurant-quality shrimp.

The longer you cook shrimp, the quicker it'll be rubbery and lose its sweetness. The sweet spot for Grilled Bang Bang Shrimp is 5 minutes on medium heat - simply flip halfway to get a beautiful sear.

When we season the shrimp, we're also going to add a bit of olive oil. So you don't have to add any additional oil to the pan when searing.

I like to serve this over leafy greens for a really tasty salad, or serve with cilantro-lime rice like I did in my photo styling below. I could also see these being paired with crispy shoestring fries or a hearty baked potato + broccoli!
