This recipe for baked carrot fries is honestly the best thing I've discovered in 2023. They don't take any time to prep, can be oven-baked or air fried, and come out so crispy, salty, and slightly sweet - they taste exactly like sweet potato fries!! Serve this with your favorite dipping sauce and these babies will be gone in minutes!

    Ingredients

A wooden board containing whole carrots, parsley, olive oil, and seasonings in a small bowl.
    • Carrots - Of course, we need some carrots! Grab a bag of whole carrots and rinse them well. You don't even need to peel them to cook!
    • Spices - A little bit of salt, garlic pepper, and cayenne (for a hint of spice) is all you need to transform carrots into something absolutely delectable.
    • Olive Oil - To help get our veggies nice and crispy on the outside. You can also use canola oil or avocado oil.

Carrot Cake Baked Oats: Filled with fiber and nutrients, these baked oats are as delectable as the dessert they were inspired by!

Carrot Soufflé with Crumble Topping: This side dish is an absolute staple for the holidays. Similar to mashed sweet potatoes in taste and texture, my carrot soufflé recipe is simply addictive - especially with the homemade crumble on top!

How to Make Carrot Fries - Two Ways!

A parchment-lined pan of unbaked carrots cut into matchstick shapes.
    1. For either cooking method, you want to start out by & scrubbing your carrots to remove any debris. No need to peel them!
    2. Cut the carrots into matchstick pieces that are even in size.
    3. Toss the carrot pieces with olive oil and seasonings. No cornstarch needed in this recipe; we're going to turn the heat up to get that beautiful crispy outside.

Roasting Carrot Fries in the Oven

    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add your seasoned carrot pieces. Try to keep them in a single layer.
    • Bake at 425℉ for about 35 minutes, stirring everything around after the first 20.
    • Toss with a bit of parsley for fun and you're done!

Making Carrot Fries in the Air Fryer

    • Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper and add the seasoned carrot pieces in a single layer.
    • Air fry at 360℉ for 12 minutes, flipping halfway.
    • Toss with a bit of parsley for fun and you're done!

    Recipe FAQs

What do carrot fries taste like?

Roasting carrots brings out their natural sweetness, so these fries have a similar sweet and salty flavor combination like sweet potato fries do!

Can you tell me what type of oil works best for baked carrot fries?

I recommend oil that can handle a high heat - either a good quality olive oil, avocado oil, or even ghee!

I've been searching for healthy recipes because I eat far too much junk food (including french fries), so decided to give these carrot fries a chance. I really liked them! I used a salt, pepper, and granulated garlic seasoning and it was really good. A guilt-free midday snack for when I am working from home. Thanks!

I've been trying to find ways to eat my favorite foods in a healthier way. These carrot fries really delivered on the "crispy" in their title. They were a great replacement for the potato version.
