Say hello to your next addicting appetizer - BBQ Jackfruit Sliders. The vegetarian version of pulled pork sliders, these babies have all the flavors and textures of the OG inspiration, but without any meat!
These jackfruit sliders have a beautiful meaty texture, and a smoky BBQ flavor that ensures you don't miss the meat. Made with canned jackfruit for convenience, these are great for watching the game or snacking on during a party!
Ingredients
- Canned Green Jackfruit - Green jackfruit, which is unripe jackfruit, has a meaty texture when shredded. We use extra ingredients to bump up the flavor to our liking.
- Worcestershire - Worcestershire sauce gives a smoky element to the jackfruit, to further mimic pulled pork.
- Burger Seasoning - Burger seasoning gives our green jackfruit lots of flavor... be sure to use your favorite blend!
- BBQ Sauce - Of course, vegan BBQ pulled pork requires BBQ sauce. Get your go-to brand, or make your own.
How to Make BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Sliders
Canned green jackfruit is usually packed in brine. To rid the jackfruit of that briny flavor, we're going to boil it in broth and then season after shredding it. My method is really quick and easy, and doesn't skimp on the final product's flavor.
- Start out by draining the canned jackfruit, then adding it to a pot with water and chicken or vegetable bouillon.
- Boil for 15 minutes, then drain the water and shred with a fork. Remove any seeds you do not want.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, burger seasoning, and bbq sauce and stir until it's well covered.
- I love to serve these sliders with homemade coleslaw and pickles.
- To take the sandwiches to the next level, add them to a foil-lined sheet pan and brush the top buns with garlic butter, parmesan, and chopped parsley.
- Bake for 5 minutes at 350℉. It's that easy!
Variations/Substitutions
- These vegetarian pulled pork sliders can be customized to your tastes.
- For toppings, try caramelized onions, spicy mustard, bread and butter pickles, or your favorite sliced cheese.
- You can also easily switch up the types of BBQ sauce for variety.
