Breakfast/Brunch Meal Prep MIYO (Make it Your Own)

Homemade Instant Oatmeal Packets

homemade instant oatmeal packets

After bringing my homemade instant oatmeal packets to work, I realized… Oatmeal gets a bad rep in the breakfast world, and I don’t really get why.

It’s filling, healthy, easy to customize, and doesn’t take long at all to prepare. Oatmeal is one of my favorite breakfasts when I’m working in the office because I don’t have to do a lot to make/eat it (and it doesn’t stink up the break room at work like my other breakfast fave – eggs. Don’t be that person!)

However, I have a problem with the store-bought oatmeal packets. I think they are too tiny, it’s hard to control the sugar content/other ingredients, and a box goes so fast for me! Well, let’s get into the homemade version…

Cheaper, healthier, and still super easy to make, my homemade instant oatmeal packets have become a staple at my desk. Sometimes I’ll divvy the mix up into actual packets (especially if I’m making some for friends or family too) but often I just have a big sealed jar that I keep around and I can scoop out as much as I want.

I keep this recipe basic with the flavor profiles so you can spice it up the way you want – blueberries, bananas, dried coffee creamer flavors, chopped nuts, whatever floats your boat! The brown sugar cinnamon base will go great with anything you can think of. Let’s get into this 4-step recipe; it’s even easier than you think!
